Naperville Central’s LRC held a book fair at Barnes & Noble to help fund an all-school book read.

All patrons that presented a voucher at the counter when they purchased a book on Saturday Nov. 22 donated a percentage of the net sale towards Central.

At this event, multiple groups from Central performed at Barnes & Noble throughout the day.

The groups that were featured included Latin Club, Red Rage, Theatre Central, Doctor Who Club, Spanish Club, Urban Arts Club, German Club and an orchestra ensemble.

Communication Arts Teacher Mary Wilkerson said that she has high hopes for the book fair.

“Well, the book fair is an opportunity to raise funds to buy a book for every staff and student,” Wilkerson said. “[It’s] also to pay for an author visit: we’re hoping for Sharon Draper.”

The all-school book read has a list of five books including “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio, “Tears of a Tiger” by Sharon M. Draper, “Hate List” by Jennifer Brown, “Whale Talk” by Chris Crutcher and “Every Day” by David Levithan.

According to Wilkerson, the hope is that the books will be handed out at the beginning of second semester this year and the author will come in April.
