On Thursday around 11:00 a.m., Naperville police received a call from a local resident stating that a currently unidentified man was refusing to exit his house on Phaeton Court in the Naper Carriage Hill subdivision of southeast Naperville.

Police arrived at the scene, along with a SWAT team, the fire department and several ambulances. From there, an eight-hour standoff between the police and the man took place until he was voluntarily taken into custody around 7:30 p.m.

During the standoff, Coach Drive was blocked, and the nearby elementary school, Scott School, was placed under a soft lockdown. Southeast Naperville residents received emails alerting them of the incident and were advised to avoid the area. Students from Madison Junior High and Naperville Central High School who lived near the area were held at their respective schools until their parents were able to pick them up.

The exact reasons for the standoff and the identity of the man are still unknown.
