10. AFC Championship Game
Recap:
In yet another chapter of the Chiefs-Bills rivalry, the AFC Championship came down to the wire. On Jan 26, Buffalo matched Kansas City punch for punch, answering scores and forcing the game into the final moments. Ultimately, Kansas City delivered late, edging the Bills by three points and advancing to their 3rd consecutive Super Bowl appearance, while Buffalo was left with another heartbreak finish.
Why It’s #10:
The drama was undeniable, but familiarity dulls the shock. Kansas City winning close playoff games is almost expected at this point. Still, an AFC Championship decided by one score earns its place, even if the ending felt painfully familiar for Bills fans.
9. NCAA Tournament National Semifinal Duke vs Houston

A historic comeback on college basketball’s biggest stage, with a lead wiped out and momentum flipped in the final stretch, makes this one of the marquee games of the tournament.
8. College Football Semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl
Recap:
On Jan 9, the CFP semifinal delivered a classic postseason football battle. Notre Dame struck early, Penn State responded, and the game stayed tight throughout. Big defensive stops, momentum swings, and a back-and-forth fourth quarter defined the night. Notre Dame sealed the win with a late field goal, surviving Penn State’s final push to punch its ticket to the National Championship Game.
Why It’s #8:
Any College Football Playoff semifinal carries enormous weight, and this one lived up to it. While it didn’t feature a blowout or miracle ending, the stakes make it one of the most meaningful single games of the year.
7. NCAA Tournament National Championship Game
Recap:
The national title game of April 7 was a defensive grind, exactly as expected with Houston involved. Both teams struggled to create clean looks, and every basket felt magnified. Florida built a slim late lead, but Houston stayed within striking distance until the final possession. The Cougars had a chance to tie or win, but Florida’s defense held firm, securing the program’s 3rd national championship by the narrowest of margins.
Why It’s #7:
Low-scoring doesn’t mean low drama. This game embodied college basketball pressure: tight defense, missed shots, and championship nerves. While it was not an offensive showcase, the tension and final-possession finish place it in the top tier of 2025 games.
6. ALCS Game 7

High stakes, historic context (first Jays trip to the Series since Joe Carter’s 1993 title) and a clutch late swing make this a classic postseason game.

Leon Draisaitl scored the overtime (OT) winner, his fourth overtime goal of the playoffs, setting an NHL postseason record.
Why It’s #5:
A massive comeback in a Cup Final and an overtime finish with historic individual performance makes this one of the most dramatic and must-watch hockey games of the year.
4. NBA Finals Game 1
Recap:
Game 1 of the NBA Finals, taking place on June 5, came down to the final possession. After Oklahoma City Thunder had as large as a 22-point lead late, the Indiana Pacers stormed back with Tyrese Haliburton answering with a pull-up jumper from the right wing with only 0.3 seconds remaining, silencing the arena and stealing Game 1 for Indiana. Haliburton finished with a complete performance, controlling the pace, attacking mismatches and delivering when it mattered most. Oklahoma City had no time to respond and a frantic final play fell harmlessly as the buzzer sounded.
Why It’s #4:
Iconic moments define great games, and Haliburton’s game-winner instantly became a signature shot of the 2025 NBA postseason.
3. World Series Game 3
Recap:
In one of the longest games in World Series history, the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 6-5 in 18 innings at Dodger Stadium on Oct. 27. Shohei Ohtani went 4-for-4 with two homers before being intentionally walked four times, reaching base nine times total, both postseason records. Reliever Will Klein tossed four shutout innings to keep the Dodgers alive and gave Los Angeles a 2-1 lead in the series.
Why It’s #3:
The sheer length of the event, record-breaking individual performances and walk-off finish make this one of the most extraordinary single games of the year.

Jalen Hurts was named MVP after completing 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns, rushing for 72 yards and breaking his own Super Bowl record for rushing yards by a quarterback. The Eagles jumped to a 24-0 halftime lead and never looked back, and the team’s defense limited the Chiefs to just 225 yards of offense.
Why It’s #2:
A decisive, dominant performance on the NFL’s biggest stage – including record-setting rushing by Hurts and the Eagles’ powerful defensive effort – earns this game a top spot.
1. World Series Game 7

On Nov. 1, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in 11 innings to clinch the 2025 World Series, becoming the first team in 25 years to win consecutive championships. The Dodgers erased 3-0 and 4-2 deficits before finally taking the lead late and holding on to the championship title.
Why It’s #1:
Game 7 of a World Series is the pinnacle of championship baseball, characterized this year by back-and-forth scoring and an extra-inning thriller that capped one of the most-watched Fall Classics in years.
