The National Scholastic Press Association named the Central Times “Best in Show” at its fall national high school journalism convention held in Indianapolis on Nov. 12. The CT was chosen as the first place entry from a field of submissions from high school newspapers around the United States in attendance.

The first place award in the category of print high school newspapers of 16 or fewer pages was the first for the Naperville Central High School paper since 2002.

According to the NSPA, the award signifies “excellence among the attendees and entries [at the convention].” Students who write, design and publish the Central Times have been recognized in the NSPA’s top 10 print publications 13 additional times over the past 20 years.

Competing schools submit one issue of its publication for judging. The Central Times selected its November issue, which will be available for subscribers and for purchase on Tuesday.
