On Tuesday, Oct. 17, the Naperville Central choral groups had their first concert of the 2016-2017 school year. This concert featured the Freshman Choir, Treble Choir, Chorales and the Advanced Female group.

The music performed ranged from contemporary and upbeat to flowing and melodious songs. Some were even in different languages.

“I picked challenging music for all of the choirs because I knew they could challenge themselves and perform it,” choir director Kelly Mielcarz said.

Both the concert-goers and performers thought that they stepped up to the challenge.

“I thought it went well,” freshman and choir member Lauren Gilfillan said. “All of the groups did really well and this concert was a great start to our year.”

Directly following the concert, there was a bake sale in the theater lobby to raise money for the Hurricane Maria relief fund.

The next concert this group will be performing in will be the combined concert that features band, orchestra and choir on Dec. 15. There will be two shows at 5:30 and 8 p.m.
