The LEGO Movie offers imaginative entertainment for children and families alike

It’s hard to find the perfect balance between reality and fantasy, but the integration of stop motion and CGI animation allows The LEGO Movie to do so with ease.

The story starts off when Emmet Brickowoski, a young construction worker in the world of LEGO, voiced by Chris Pratt, accidentally stumbles upon the Piece of Resistance, which then triggers an elaborate prophecy told by Vitruvius, voiced by Morgan Freeman. The Piece of Resistance is supposedly the only object in the universe which can prevent President Business, voiced by Will Ferrell, from using the “Kragle” to glue all the pieces of LEGO in place forever. It’s up to Emmet and friends to put a stop to President Business’ evil plans. I know what you’re thinking – it sounds cheesy and sounds like it barely has enough content to be the plot of a full-length movie. Surprisingly, there are enough intricacies involved in the storyline to keep it fresh and interesting all throughout.

The LEGO Movie appeals to all ages with its all-star cast. The main cast includes Will Arnett (Batman), Elizabeth Banks (Wyldstyle), Jonah Hill (Green Lantern), Channing Tatum (Superman), and Shaquille O’Neal (Shaq) only to name a few. With such talented and distinct voice actors, none of the characters seem like minor characters and all have enough time to be fully developed.

Due to the obvious nature of the size of LEGOs, the clever implementation of items like nail polish remover and Band-Aids actually enhances the film while reminding viewers of the scope of the universe.

When a movie about LEGOs convinces me of how cool of a superhero Batman is, I can already tell you that movie will one day see itself as a household classic. The LEGO Movie embodies every kid’s dream of how they want to see LEGOs. Imagination only goes so far when kids see their hands moving their toys. Kids want to see their toys move by themselves like humans while still in a toy-like fashion, and The LEGO Movie illustrates just that.

5/5. Ultimately, The LEGO Movie successfully does its job by serving as a medium of entertainment for the whole family that revives kids’ imaginations everywhere. I’d definitely recommend this film to anyone looking for a good storyline and some laughter, regardless of their age.
