2024 Central Athletic Hall of Fame inductee: Rod Landorf

Rod+Landorf+was+inducted+into+Centrals+Athletic+Hall+of+Fame+on+Jan.+26.
Sam Lockhart
Rod Landorf was inducted into Central’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Jan. 26.

Rod Landorf was a wrestler and football player during his time at Central. After graduating in 1962 he went on to serve in the Vietnam war where he was awarded a Bronze Star.

The following Q&A includes dialogue from either a panel discussion of all five inductees or a one-on-one Central Times interview with the inductee.

Q: What would you say is the highlight of your time at Central?

A: The athletics and the friends that you make and just hang on to that really worked out better and in the long run because a lot of those who graduated with their one year one way or the other are still around.

Q: What advice would you have for current students?

A: I think if you just enjoy life and make sure you hang on to your friends. To keep them. Life seems to be a little bit easier when you have people to talk to.

Q: How did you overcome [a challenge you see as a teenager] and how do you see that play out in your adult life now?

A: If you work through [problems or disappointment] it seems to work out. But you do need to work at it and nobody’s gonna give it to you for free, so keep going.
