Intro to business classes fundraise in cooperation with Everdine’s Grilled Cheese Co.

Naperville Central’s Intro to Business classes designed and sold limited-edition grilled cheeses at Everdine’s Grilled Cheese Co. in Downtown Naperville to raise money for the Career and Technical Education department.

Three sandwiches were sold, each on different days. Among the sandwiches sold were the Smokey Maple Bacon on Oct. 26, the Smokehouse on Oct. 27 and the Baconado on Oct. 28.

While the class activity concluded with a tasty product, the main purpose is to introduce students to real-life marketing and the principle of the four Ps, Epstein said.

The four Ps of marketing, product, price, place, and promotion, are key elements of the Intro to Business class.

“The place is obviously Everdine’s, and the price is set by Everdine’s,” Epstein said. “The product, that’s what all the brainstorming is for. The last piece of it, the promotion, the students handle themselves.”

The project originally came to life after a burger restaurant had contacted them with the idea. After the burger restaurant later closed, teachers looked for a new restaurant to host their project, and Everdine’s Grilled Cheese Co. was chosen.

The project was “exciting, as you got to use real-world examples to apply our marketing skills,” freshman Zaid Hasan said.
