Students, faculty and family members from both Naperville North and Central flocked to North Central College’s Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium for the annual Crosstown Classic.

To begin the game, the North Huskies scored a field goal, making the score 3-0 North. With two minutes and 47 seconds left in the quarter, Central rose above North with a touchdown. The first quarter ended 7-3 Central.

During the second quarter, Central increased their lead with two more touchdowns, making the score 21-3 Central by halftime.

During halftime, The varsity cheerleaders performed a routine choreographed by Senior Officer Katie Squire, the varsity Arrowettes danced to their Beyonce Medley and the Marching Redhawks showcased their award-winning performance, “No One Shall Sleep.”

Entering the second half with an 18-point deficit, the Huskies came out ready for revenge. Forty-five seconds into the third quarter, North scored a touchdown making the score 21-10 Central. The Redhawks challenged this attempt at a comeback by scoring another three touchdowns in the third quarter at the fifth minute, the eighth minute and the 10th minute. The third quarter ended with a score of 41-10 Central.

During the fourth quarter, Central substituted on much of the junior varsity squad, who held North scoreless. The game concluded with a final score of 41-10 Central.

The football game was not the only Crosstown Classic competition that Central won; the Chick-fil-a in Fox Valley hosted a Crosstown Classic Challenge from Oct. 5-8. At the end of the week, Central students were victorious by buying more Chick-fil-a than their crosstown rivals.
