Mr. NCHS Q & A: John Herbert

Maneesh Somisetty, Staff Writer

Q: What are you looking forward to the most about tomorrow?

A: What I’m looking forward to the most about tomorrow is getting over with the whole being in front of a thousand people thing or 800 or whatever.  But I feel like once you get out there, it’s going to be a great experience no matter if I screw up or not.  No matter if anyone screws up, we all had a good time doing it.

Q: What has been the most difficult part of preparing?

A: The most difficult part of preparing was like thinking of all the things you want to do for the summer wear and stuff.  Everyone had such great ideas, and we were all deciding what was best to do.  I think because we were given so much freedom it’s hard to decide on who we wanted to be and what we wanted to do.  Also getting all the videos done on time was hard.

Q: What is your favorite memory from preparing for this?

A: Best memory is being closer with these nine other guys.  I mean I’ve seen them around the hallways and everything but after this we’re a lot closer.  All the preparation has been together.

Q: What are you going to be doing tomorrow specifically?

A: I’m playing Guitar Hero -Through the fire in the flames on expert.  Not perfect, I’ll clarify that.  It’s completed with an accuracy of around 80 to 83 percent unless I freeze and I get somewhere like high 70s, 78 or 79.  It’s going to get completed; that’s all I can tell you.

Q: Why did you decide to do this?

A: I originally wanted to do this because one of my other good friend was going to do it, and he never did it.  His interview was actually one or two days after mine, and he never showed up for the interview.  So I got in, and he never showed up.  I’m glad I did anyway because [the contestants are] all pretty close here.  It’s been a really great experience.  I’m glad I did it.
