Fire damages Grandma Sally’s Restaurant

Early in the morning on July 18, firefighters were called to put out a fire that was destroying Grandma Sally’s restaurant on Ogden Avenue in Naperville. Smoke and flames were shooting through the roof and debris was scattered around the building.

According to CBS Chicago, the fire broke out at around 2:15 a.m. and no one was inside the building at the time. However, Naperville Fire Chief Mark Puknaitis estimates the damages to be about $400,000. The Chicago Tribune stated that authorities do not find the fire to be suspicious.

This was the second restaurant fire that has taken place in Naperville recently. On July 6, a fire broke out in Rizzo’s located in downtown Naperville and was forced to close due to damage. CBS Chicago reports that there does not seem to be any connection between the two fires.

Grandma Sally’s—which has been serving customers since the late 1970s—is popular in the neighborhood and customers hope the restaurant is able to rebuild.
