8 Things to do during spring break

Lexi Haskell, Staff Writer

It’s that time of year again: Spring break. People across the country relish at the opportunity for a week off, celebrating it by vacationing somewhere warm. Well, either that or spending an entire week in bed watching Netflix.

For those who aren’t going on vacation, Spring break might seem like a misnomer as we are greeted with snow. And although the snow has fallen like a depressing blanket on us this year in Naperville, I encourage you to go out and make the most of your Spring break. Here is a list of things you can do in “Naperthrill:”

Although this may seem like an obvious option, Downtown Naperville is a great way to spend a night out. Go out to dinner with your friends or family and enjoy a nice walk down the (probably frozen) Riverwalk after.

A favorite activity of many during the winter is going to the movies, and since this weather seems to be alluding to winter rather than spring, going to a movie would be an excellent way to spend your “Spring” break. “Get Hard,” “Home” and “Serena” are all opening on Friday Mar. 27, right in time for the week off.

  3. This next one truly pains me to say, but sadly the snow outside deems it necessary. Building a snowman is a great way to get outside and be active when a warm, 90º beach isn’t close by. If you want to spice it up, you could even put sunglasses and a bathing suit on it.

If you’re okay with spending some money, suit up and head over to iFly with some friends or your family. Although some of your friends may be skydiving for real, indoor skydiving here at home might be just as fun.

  5. Another fun way to spend an evening with your friends would be to go bowling. It’s indoors (which is nice because I’m not sure the temperature here will get above 32º) and all ages can participate. What more do you need?

The chilly weather may divert some attention from one of Lisle’s most beautiful places to go, the Morton Arboretum. Even with snow, the Arboretum is a great place to go whether you’re just hanging out with friends or going for a run on one of the gorgeous trails.

  7. Spring break is just a precursor to summer, right? Well, what better way to prepare than going to the mall? Not only is it a favorite summer activity, you could also get some new, summer clothes.
  8. This one might possibly be my favorite way to spend Spring break at home. Just to that. Literally stay at home. Invite some friends over and watch a movie or play video games.

Although these eight things to do during Spring break will not make you any less jealous of people in Miami or Hawaii, they may help you find something to do for your time off.
