Walmart opens in Naperville

A new Walmart opened its doors in Naperville on Wednesday at 8 a.m. It is located on 75th Street and is open 24 hours. The location is 68 percent larger than its predecessor on Route 59, totaling 185,000 square feet, and offers a wider variety of products in departments such as electronics, toys and women’s clothing.

Another new aspect of the recently-opened Walmart is the availability of self-checkout lanes, which store manager Greg Szarzynski believes are a “great convenience for the customer,” according to the Naperville Sun.

The building contains many new features to minimize its carbon footprint, including skylights, motion-activated lighting and tighter cooler seals.

“A lot of thought went into making this store as energy-efficient as possible,” Szarzynski said, according to the Naperville Sun.

Because the facility’s walls were put up last fall before the cold weather came, the building’s construction was completed on schedule.
