A strange title for a strange film. In this complicated yet striking story jam-packed with emotion, Michael Keaton has shown the world how great of an actor he is capable of being. Up for 4 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and 7 Golden Globe nominations, later winning 2 golden globes for best screenplay and best actor in a motion picture: comedy or musical, “Birdman” has been the film of the year according to many critics. Other supporting actors in the film consist of Emma Stone,  Edward Norton and Zach Galifianakis.

Critic Reviews

“A top-notch cast is at the top of their game.” Joe Morgenstern, The Wall Street Journal.

“Keaton is given ample support from a lively, limber, consistently alert ensemble, including the sly, scene-stealing Norton and the impressively feisty stone.” Ann Hornaday, The Washington Post.

“Besides Keaton, who digs deep and delivers the best performance of his career, there is spectacular, award-caliber work from Edward Norton and a never-better Emma Stone, who is raw and revelatory.” Peter Travers, The Rolling Stone.

“It’s the crowning performance of Keaton’s career, as good as any performance I’ve seen all year.” Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times.

Riggan, played by Micheal Keaton, is a washed-up actor who used to be an iconic superhero must look to the future and not the past to reclaim his past glory. At the same time, he is also trying to save his daughter’s relationship with him and regain his friendship with his ex-wife.

Director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu uses his creative and daring talents to produce a work of art that is fascinated by many critics and directors. He made the 119-minute film with the least amount of cuts. He was able to make a film with extended clips that never seemed to end. The longest clip with out a cut is 15 minutes.

I advise anyone who is willing to watch “Birdman” to read the story plot before diving into an un-blinkable film . The beginning is confusing and you don’t understand the story and the characters until the middle of the film. It does not start off slow. It begins quickly and stays quick and fast paced, but the film has mostly extended clips, although the film still seems to move at a rapid speed.
