Bolingbrook High School defeated Central in the game that determined the state bound team this football season.
Central’s football team won their way to the semifinals in the Class 8A division in Illinois. They lost to Bolingbrook with a final score of 19 to 22.
The semifinal, held at home on Nov. 19, was an emotional game for all.
“There wasn’t one person in the locker room [after the game] that wasn’t in tears,” said junior Neco Colie. “No one even left the locker room for at least a half hour after the game. A couple of seniors didn’t want to take their pads off.”
Junior Rachel Dulski, a spectator at the game, felt companionship from the fans and football players alike.
“At the end of the game, everyone was still supportive and strong,” Dulski said.
Despite their loss, the varsity football team experienced a sense of accomplishment this season.
“I think the season was a huge success because our seniors put this football team back in the DVC picture,” said Colie. “We juniors have big shoes to fill.”
