During the summer, my favorite thing to do is sit by a cozy fireplace, on a beach on a warm day, or even on a long car ride and read a good book. Luckily, this summer I found the perfect books to keep me occupied.
The young adult book series “Pretty Little Liars” by Sara Shepard offers a new approach towards your average mystery. This series is the perfect summer series to read anywhere.
These books are amazing because the story is just interesting and drew me on from page one all the way to the end of the 8th and last book.
The story begins in a Pennsylvania town, where five girls live average lives as worriless 7th grade girls. One night, their lives change forever when one of the girls, Allison, mysteriously disappears during a sleepover.
Three years later, while holding on to a secret they’ve all been keeping, they start to get mysterious text messages, emails and notes from someone called “A”. Now, “A” knows all the secrets these girls keep that they thought only Allison knew.
“Pretty Little Liars” takes you on a journey to find out if Allison is alive, who this mysterious “A” is and what secrets the girls have been keeping for so long. With all the drama that comes with high school, the story takes many twists and turns, some for good, and some for worse. Anyone can relate to the lives of these girls, and that’s what makes is even more enjoyable to read.
Sara Shepard’s writing style is new and different. Her way of revealing things little by little always keeps you on your toes. Also, you’ll never believe what you just read. She is a great author because her books never cease to entertain and surprise you.
In addition, ABC family just premiered their take-off on the books with a TV series also called “Pretty Little Liars”, which first aired June 8th, 2010. And once you’ve read the books, you’ll think the show is even better. The show matches the personalities of the characters, and the plot very well. I like the show a lot because it painted an even bigger picture, and expanded the storyline even more to give me another perspective. It definitely amazed me further.
Overall, this series is new, interesting, and fun to read this summer. My favorite thing about this series is that the spontaneous events always keep me on my toes, and the end is breathtaking.
Anyone will love this series is they give it a try. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the summer reading these wonderfully written mystery novels!
