Q: What is your job title?

A: I’m the assistant principal of student services.

Q: What do you do as the assistant principal of student services?

A: It is a newly created position at both Naperville Central and Naperville North. So underneath my job description, I oversee things that happen down in student services, and then things that happen down in special education. Some of those responsibilities used to be farmed out to people at the district office, but the district wanted to bring people in that can handle it at the building level.

Q: What is your educational background?

A: I have a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Ohio State University. I have a master’s in school social work from UIC. I  started out as a school social worker, and then I got a master’s in educational leadership and administration from Benedictine University. I transferred into a dean, so the Dean of Students, and then I’ve done this job that I’m doing here for the last six years at another high school.

Q: What was your previous job prior to coming to Central?

A: I was at Wheeling High School for six years. I oversaw student services and special education, and I also did operations, but Naperville Central is closer to my house, and I saw it as an opportunity to kind of focus on my skill set of having a pretty significant background with student services and special education.

Q: What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

A: So, I’m pretty busy. I have… I don’t know if it’s a hobby, but I have four little boys who were very involved in athletics so my time is spent being their Uber driver and going to their games and cheering them on. If I don’t have anybody at home, I like to enjoy the quiet and I like to read. I like to work out and also spend time with my friends. Most of my time is spent with my family.  I love to watch college football. I’m a crazy Buckeye fan.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?

A: I’m super excited to be a Redhawk and to be at Naperville Central. So far, everybody that I have met, from the students to the staff and to the administrators, have been very, very welcoming, and I feel lucky to be a part of this community.
