Two children were found stabbed in their home on the 800 block of Quinn Court on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Two dogs were also found stabbed to death in the same home. According to the Chicago-Sun Times, Naperville Police are questioning the babysitter who was watching the kids at the time in connection with the murders.
Authorities believe it was the babysitter’s 8-year-old son and another 5-year-old girl were stabbed while they were in their beds.
According to the Chicago-Sun Times, the mother of the 5-year-old girl was a nurse who entrusted her daughter to the babysitter’s care Tuesday night when she left for work.
Naperville Police were called to the home at 10:18pm Tuesday night, when the discovered the scene.
Residents of the neighborhood say that the area is quiet, and they are disturbed by what has happened.
Naperville Police say that the suspect is not believed to be at large, and one neighbor overhead an officer saying that the babysitter was covered in blood.
Other neighbors say that they did not see or hear anything unusual from the home.
The 8-year-old boy attended Scott Elementary School in District 203 and the 5-year-old girl was in kindergarten at Brookdale Elementary School in District 204.
Both school districts and the community are extremely saddened by the recent events.
Administrators of both District 203 and 204 contacted families of children attending the schools to inform them of the incident. Staff members are available in both districts to help other students and their families cope with the tragedy.
Naperville Police have not released the names of the children or any suspects at this time.
