Naperville Community Unit School District 203 released the following statement regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic on Monday, Mar. 9.
We are continuing to closely monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. While there have been no reported cases in DuPage County, Naperville 203 administration continues to collaborate with the DuPage County Health Department and the City of Naperville, as well as follow the guidance established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The public health response for the general public is in the “Be Aware and Prepare” phase for the COVID-19, which means Naperville 203 will continue to collaborate with area government agencies and issue broader community-wide education. The CDC has issued “Level 3” travel notices (as of 3/5/2020) for Italy, China, South Korea and Iran. Citizens should avoid non-essential travel to these countries, and if travel occurs, the recommendation is to quarantine upon arrival home for 14 days. We ask that if you travel to these areas, that you notify us prior to your student returning to school. For updated information from the CDC on travel restrictions, please review theCOVID-19 Information for Travel.
The CDC has described COVID-19 as a “rapidly evolving situation.” Moving forward, health authorities may issue new guidance, and we will keep you updated on any impact it may have on our schools. Naperville 203 schools will continue to implement additional procedures that are inline with best practices and recommendations (more information can be found here).
