Baseball team sets high goals for upcoming season

Springtime has come around again, which means the baseball players are swinging into gear. The boys’ varsity baseball team’s high goals are returning as well.

“Part of playing baseball for Naperville Central means playing for championships: conference championships, regional championships, sectionals championships, all the way to state championships,” said Michael Stock, Dean of Students and boys’ Varsity Baseball Coach.

After losing the regional final last year, the team looks for redemption, but they also want to focus on the process of getting there.

“We preach that we aren’t going to skip any steps,” Stock said. “The great part of the season isn’t what happens at the end. The greatest part of the season is every step along the way.”

Although this is the least amount of returning players the past three years after graduating eight seniors last year, Stock believes the new and returning players can take the opportunity to improve together.

Watch the boys play against Wheaton Warrenville South at their next home game at 4:30 p.m. on May 5.
