Redhawks of the Week: Senior John Deveney

Kendall Olsen, Staff Photographer

1. What are your post high school plans?

I plan on bringing rock and roll back to its rightful place at the top of society. What this world needs is a little more love and I plan on using the music to deliver plenty of that.

2. How do you fit into the NCHS community? What activities are you involved in and what do you contribute inside and outside of the classroom?

I am a leader in our school’s Musician’s Club. It is a fantastic club and I highly advise any and all musicians to join us!

3. What are you most proud of?

My ability to caress the eardrums of the people with the gift of sweet rock and roll is definitely something that I take pride in.

4. What is your life dream?

I dream of reaching past the likes of legends such as Van Halen, Zeppelin, the Stones, KISS, Hendrix and such. My ultimate goal in life is to follow the examples of these golden gods and change the world with my music.

5. What is your favorite high school memory?

Senior year

6. What is something you can’t live without?

My guitars. Each of my beauties were hand-forged by Zeus in the fires atop Mount Olympus. They were created as weapons of love, allowing me to communicate the sweet music of the gods into this world. The joy they have the ability to bring me has yet to be matched by any earthly force.

7. What are three adjectives you would use to describe yourself?

Adjectives? Nah, that’s boring. Here are three ideals that represent me:

Love, freedom and rock n’ roll.

 8. If your life were a movie, what would be the title?

Top Gun. I would also like to add that Brian Holbrook is the Goose to my Maverick.

 9. Who is your biggest hero or role model?

James Hetfield has always been a figure that I’ve looked up to in my life. My second guitar was a lovely Explorer that I purchased because that’s what I had seen James use on stage. Not only his guitar though, but his ideals and values as a person are just things that I find myself admiring.
