The Neighbors

Universal’s much-anticipated R-rated comedy “Neighbors,” which features Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Dave Franco, is finally out in theaters. The movie follows a young couple who, after the recent birth of their daughter, is forced to deal with the consequences of living next to a fraternity house after a fraternity moves in next-door. Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne play Mac and Kelly Radner who try to make amends with the fraternity next door (after calling the police on them) by partying with the fraternity brothers, and ultimately end up trying to get the fraternity disbanded through various pranks and schemes.

Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed the movie much more than I thought I would. After seeing “This is the End” (which also featured Rogen along with many other comedians and famous actors) last year and being thoroughly disappointed, I expected to come out of “Neighbors” feeling the same way. However, “Neighbors” had the plotline aspect that “This is the End” was missing, and, despite its at-time vulgar qualities, including many sexually-explicit scenes, “Neighbors” had many relatable characters for people of a wide-variety of ages.

Given its sexually-explicit nature, “Neighbors” is definitely geared toward college students and adults and earns its R rating. However, if you are looking for a dirty comedy to watch and you’re at least 17, “Neighbors” is the way to go.
