We teenagers are always looking for places to hang out, even in the frigid winter or sweltering heat. No matter the weather, there will always be a reason to meet, and the perfect spots are just waiting to be found. After asking multiple Central students about their favorite hangout locations, the Central Times noticed a few reoccurring answers.

Some Central students don’t mind enjoying a frozen treat in the winter months. Juniors Hailey McHugh and Léa Savard are both supporters of frozen yogurt shops year round, with Forever Yogurt being one of the most popular.

“I love frozen yogurt and the store is a nice place to sit in with friends and talk and listen to music,” Savard said.

McHugh agreed, and added that it was more affordable for high school students and a good place to go if students “didn’t feel like being in their houses all night.”

With a variety of beverages, Starbucks is another place that attracts many teenagers. With multiple locations around Naperville, Starbucks is always available for students to get together. Junior Tommy Locke finds himself spending a lot of time there with friends.

“I go there to enjoy some afternoon or late night tea or to work on a project,” Locke said. “[It’s] always friendly and relaxing and makes you feel like you’re at a hotel/lodge lobby with a warm fireplace.”

To have a more hands-on experience, sophomore Sarah Andrews recommends stopping by Marbles: The Brain Store. Here, she and her friends enjoy games like Abalone and Square Up, competitive games that can be played free.

“What I like the most about Marbles is that you can just hang out with friends and be as loud as you want without [the owners] kicking you out, which is actually a frequent problem with my friends,” Andrews said jokingly.

Downtown Naperville has many locations to meet during the hotter months, with its parks, Centennial Beach and the Riverwalk. The Naperville Riverwalk features more than 1.75 miles of brick path by the DuPage River and junior Alie Charmoli takes advantage of it.

“I go there when the weather is good, and it’s a good place to walk around with your friends,” Charmoli said. “It’s fun to see all the people walking around and you can even have a picnic on the fields next to the walk.”

Other favorites include Fox Valley Mall, movie theaters and a variety of fast food restaurants.
